Building a strong community, or "MAMily," means making personal connections with the people around us, whether they are in the pews beside us or living on our street. The Embrace Team encourages us to embrace this call by starting conversations with those we don't know well.
Starting a Conversation
Making a personal connection often begins with a simple question. Here are a few to get you started:
To a Fellow Congregant:
What brought you to this place?
How are you like your mother or father?
Tell me about the people you live with.
What did you do for self-care this week?
To a Neighbor:
What is the best thing I can eat in the neighborhood?
Have you ever turned to a neighbor for help? What did you ask for?
Have you been part of a positive change in your neighborhood?
These questions are designed to open the door to further conversations and shared experiences. Embracing one another is at the heart of our mission, and it starts one conversation at a time.
We are so glad to be building this community with you!
