Hello Maple Avenue Ministries Family,

This past Sunday (Jan. 4) , Pastor Winfred Burns II delivered a powerful message titled "Upgrade Your Obedience," drawing from the story of Naaman in 2 Kings 5:13. As we step into 2026, Pastor Burns encouraged us to reflect on how God is calling us to deepen our obedience.

  • Understanding Seasons: Pastor Burns reminded us that God moves us through different seasons, each designed to reveal more of His nature and purpose for our lives. Just as Naaman was called to wash in the Jordan River, we are called to embrace the tasks God sets before us, even when they seem challenging or beneath us.

  • The Cost of Obedience: True obedience often requires sacrifice. Pastor Burns highlighted that our willingness to follow God's instructions, even when difficult, leads to flourishing and prosperity. Naaman's healing was a testament to the power of obedience, showing us that our breakthrough often lies on the other side of our willingness to submit to God's will.

  • Impact of Community: The sermon also emphasized the importance of community in our spiritual journey. Just as Naaman needed guidance from those around him to fulfill his healing, we too need a supportive community to encourage us and redirect us towards God's path.
