Peace Friends, Family, and Community,
I pray this message finds you well and in good health. I want to begin by expressing my deep gratitude for the many ways you have supported, encouraged, and poured into me over time. I do not take community lightly, and I reach out with both humility and intention.
As many of you know, I am currently on a journey to pursue my calling as a Professional Midwife. My work is rooted in supporting Black life, empowering birthing people of all experiences, honoring Black women’s and birthing histories, and contributing to a future where our communities experience care, dignity, and autonomy, especially in birth and beyond. Evidence continues to show that Black women and babies are significantly more likely to experience adverse outcomes in childbirth compared to their white counterparts, largely due to systemic inequities, racial bias, and lack of access to culturally congruent care.
In this season, I am actively working toward completing my clinical training before Summer 2027 in order to earn my Bachelor of Science in Midwifery. Alongside this, I am preparing for the NARM exam and continuing to build a practice that centers holistic, accessible, and community-based care. This work requires deep commitment—not only of time and energy, but also financial resources. From educational expenses to travel, supplies, and sustaining my day-to-day needs, I am navigating the realities of this path with both intention and urgency.
As part of this next chapter, I will be transitioning out of state for 13 months beginning in June. This move is an intentional step in my journey, allowing me to deepen my training, expand my hands-on experience, and continue growing in alignment with my calling in midwifery and community-centered care. This transition requires me to establish stability in a new environment while remaining fully committed to my studies and service. It is both an exciting and stretching season, one I am approaching with intention and faith.
Because of this, I am inviting my community to support me financially, if you feel called and able at this time.
There are two ways to contribute:
Your support allows me to remain focused on my training, show up fully for the families I serve, and continue building work that is rooted in care, justice, and community impact. I also want to be transparent that I am contributing to my own care and daily needs—including gas, toiletries, and everyday personal expenses. This is a shared effort, one where I am actively investing in myself alongside the support I receive.
If you are unable to give financially, I still deeply value your support. Sharing this message, staying connected to my work, linking me with community and opportunities, or continuing to pour prayer and encouragement into me means more than I can fully express.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being part of my community and my path to midwifery. I am truly grateful to be held and supported in this journey.
With gratitude,
Gezelle Kingdom Grier
