Neighboring well:
What do you say to someone on your block who you might otherwise pass by? I often start something like this: Hi My name is Jay, my wife Laura and I live up the street at 234 W 18th. Are you new to the area? OR how long have you been in the neighborhood? Where were you before?…
Another way to start is to admire something about them – right then and there. I love those shoes, your puppy, etc. My name is Jay, and you are? Do you live in the neighborhood? How long? How do you like to open new conversations with neighbors? Have you scheduled/planned your summer block party with a couple of neighbors?

Connecting with each other and our neighbors:

  • Community game night is the last Friday of the month. We’ re moving things outdoors in June weather permitting! Come join the fun! Take a snack to share and a favorite outdoor game to play. (Ladder ball, Corn Hole, Chalk art, KUBB, 4-Square and more)
  • 427 Club (over 55) meets the last Wednesday of the month noon for lunch and fellowship; Join us if you are able. Lunch is provided.
  • Come along with us! Is there something you are already planning to do – to which you might invite a neighbor or congregant to join? A beach outing, a bike ride, a picnic etc?
  • June 23 at 6 pm neighbors will be planning a neighborhood-wide summer event. Want to participate in the planning? Talk to Jay.

Dreaming and acting so that the church campus is a known, appreciated and fully utilized community asset. Starting with what we have now:

  • There is ongoing conversation re moving the emergency feeding program from Western Seminary to MAM. Pray with us for discernment by both parties.
  • Desk of Thrones (DOT) has some great plans for coming campus improvements! What we need are sponsors and supporters to make the plans viable. Stay tuned!
